The Wheel of Health, created by Duke Integrative Medicine, is used as a framework for the coaching. Using the Wheel of Health, you explore, assess and identify what is important to you and what changes you want or need to make.
The colors around the Wheel denote important areas of focus:
Yellow: You are the center, surrounded by Mindful Awareness, which is the key to start the process of positive change.
Green: Self-Care is crucial to all aspects of your health and well-being and is reflected in lifestyle, priorities, motivation, and habits. Recognizing its impact on your health, and how it supports basic functions in your life, allows you to rebuild a healthier life. The seven areas of Self-Care are:
Movement, Exercise and Rest
Personal and Professional Development
Relationships and Communication
Blue: Professional Care includes therapies that are aimed at staying healthy (Prevention) as well as treating conditions that arise (Intervention). Integrative Medicine combines evidence-based therapies from both conventional (western or allopathic medicine) and complementary therapies.
